This travelling show opens at the German Architecture Museum (DAM) on May 3rd 2019. The European Architectural Photography Prize architekturbild has been awarded every other year since 1995. The theme for 2019 is "Joyful Architecture". The most common expectations of architecture can be described in terms such as usability, urban planning, economy, sustainability and aesthetics. The fact that architecture can also trigger well-being, induce happiness, be playful, and have a sense of humour, is (rarely) considered. This award highlights architecture - whether subtle or striking - which is joyful in shaping and positively influencing the built environment and those who move within it.
