  <abstract>This dissertation shows a study of scientific nature on a national traditional kite which is ‘Wau Jala Budi’ that becomes the pride of the Malay community in the state of Kedah. The focus of this study is on the Jala Budi Kedah kite, the kinds of decorations which include a complete and detailed description of the artistic construction, concept and the philosophy underlying the design, and analysis of the aesthetic context underlying the aspect of decorations on the kite. Three theories used as guidelines in this scientific study that is the concept of Malay art, the theory of aesthetic significant form, and aesthetic principles. The process of producing Jala Budi Kedah kite and the type of decorations which have been detailed, begin from the process of selecting the reed or bamboo until the final process of installing the arch, is seen as very complicated as it demands high degree of perseverance and patience.</abstract>
